Mark Williams
Director, NERA
Dr. Williams is Director in NERA’s European Competition Policy Practice, operating from London and Brussels. He was previously founding Director of LBE, the Oxford-based competition economics consultancy, until its acquisition by NERA in 2002. Dr. Williams has extensive experience with UK and EC competition policy cases, dating back to 1988, and has been lead economic adviser in a series of high profile cases under Articles 81 and 82 EC, the European Merger Regulation, various European member state competition legislations and in Africa and Asia. In addition to merger control and antitrust work, Dr. Williams has an extensive compliance practice and advises on issues at the interface of competition policy with state aids, the public sector, intellectual property and litigation. He is a regular speaker at international conferences, has taught antitrust economics on the Oxford University BCL Competition Law course since 1991, and is author of various papers on competition policy, including “An Ice Cream War: The Law and Economics of Freezer Exclusivity” in the European Competition Law Review.
