Alyssa Lutz
Special Consultant
Dr. Lutz's practice focuses on antitrust and intellectual property issues. She has a particular interest in antitrust analyses in the healthcare and airline/aerospace industries. She has extensive experience managing large complex antitrust cases in both of these areas. She is experienced in assessing the competitive effects of mergers and other business combinations, as well as evaluating both liability and damage issues in cases involving claims of monopolization and attempted monopolization, predatory pricing, price discrimination, vertical restraints, exclusionary conduct, and tying and bundling arrangements.

With regard to intellectual property issues, Dr. Lutz is experienced in evaluating antitrust counterclaims. She has evaluated these claims and calculated economic damages from patent and trademark infringement and theft of trade secrets in a range of industries, including agricultural products, computer software, medical products, automobile parts, and building products. She has also given a number of presentations on appropriate methods of intellectual property damage calculation and on antitrust issues in an intellectual property context.

Prior to becoming a Special Consultant, Dr. Lutz was a Vice President in NERA's Antitrust Practice in Los Angeles. She has also served as a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Finance and Business Economics at the University of Southern California's School of Business and Administration.
