John Johnson
Vice President
Dr. Johnson specializes in the economics of antitrust, intellectual property, and labor. He is an expert in damages estimation and the use of econometric methods in commercial litigation, and has extensive experience with Section I Sherman Act matters, including both criminal and civil cartel and price fixing cases. In addition, Dr. Johnson specializes in the economics of class certification and has significant litigation experience in all phases of class action matters.

Dr. Johnson has worked on a variety of merger and competition policy issues. In particular, his work has involved analysis of both coordinated and unilateral effects, entry models, and specific competitive issues arising in monopsony markets.

In intellectual property, Dr. Johnson has worked on patent damages litigation, reasonable royalties calculations, false advertising claims, and other valuation projects. He has also written on the use of event studies in intellectual property and on the current state of empirical analysis in intellectual property.

Prior to joining NERA, Dr. Johnson was an Assistant Professor of Economics and Labor and Industrial Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
